Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's in Accounting and cost accounting experience on construction. 


The primary purpose of the Accountant II position is to provide supervision and support for the processing and reporting of project cost items within Facilities Finance. This is accomplished by applying professional accounting principles and techniques in meeting assigned responsibilities and in preparing data for accounting records, financial reports, special reports, analyses of operations, etc.


Process and Review Project Costs  Review and process CIP and Non-CIP project cost items including requisitions, invoices and internal budget adjustments to ensure compliance with established procedures, regulations and vendor contract terms. Conducts research on key topical areas and develops targeted presentations, when assigned

 

Reconciliations  Performs monthly project cost reconciliations to ensure accuracy between UTMDACC general ledger and construction accounting sub-ledger ledger and resolve problems which arise. Research, analyze and coordinate resolution of issues among Accounts Payable, Supply Chain Service, PM/PPM/PD, Asset Management, HUB Department and vendor, as appropriate

 

Project Cost Reporting   Collects appropriate and necessary project cost data using the construction accounting sub-ledger (Timberline), Resource One data, Access databases, spreadsheets, SmartStream, Hyperion, etc. to analyze data and participate in the preparation of project cost reporting.

 

Project Set-up and Close-out   Capital and Non-capital project set-up and close-out including UTMDACC general ledger and construction accounting sub-ledger and updating of automated project requisitioning tool

 

Signature Authority Maintenance   Manages the Chart Field String approval authorization updates to the Fund Attribute Custom Table (FACT) through the Chartstring Attribute Tool (CAT)

Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field. Two years of accountant experience required with a Bachelor's in Business Administration or related field. One year of accountant experience required with a Bachelor's in Accounting. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
