EDUCATION

Required: Master's Degree in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice.  May be waived for applicants who obtained recognition as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse from the Texas State Board of Nursing prior to 1/1/2003.  Graduate education and related New Mexico Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.

 
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

Required: Current license and certification as defined by the ANCC, AANP or NCC for the Advance Practice Nurse. Written authorization from the State of New Mexico of Nursing (BON) to function as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse. Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

 

Preferred: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.


MAY BE REQUIRED:  Authorization for limited prescriptive authority by the New Mexico Board of Nursing.


 
EXPERIENCE

Preferred:  A minimum of one year clinical experience as an APP in an inpatient setting or a minimum of two years clinical experience in an outpatient setting. One year experience as a clinical APP in medical oncology or related field.
