Rehabilitation Services offers physical therapy and occupational therapy for patients of all ages and with any type of cancer who are experiencing problems related to cancer or the side effects of surgery, chemotherapy or radiation treatment. Services are provided to both inpatients and outpatients at our main building at the Medical Center and at our Houston-area locations.


The primary purpose of the Rehabilitation technician position is to: support licensed rehabilitation staff and to assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the department. Performs selected rehabilitation procedures and related tasks under the   supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, Occupational Therapist, and Occupational Therapist Assistant


Assists therapists when directed, in carrying out essential parts of rehabilitation program.

Prepares whirl pool and cleans whirlpool in accordance with the infection control and department procedures.

Transport patient to and from the treatment areas.

Performs assigned cleaning and maintenance tasks to provide an environment that i s conducive to the safety of patients, visitors, and staff.

Maintains refrigerator log for and AOL kitchen

Stocks and tidies exam cabinet Wipe down mats and gym equipment including electrical equipment and carts in exam rooms Load, run and empty dishwasher daily

Clean microwaves and kitchen sink daily clean refrigerator and throw out expired food

Clean oven on a bi-monthly basis Clean and straighten all exam rooms and window seats

Straighten gym, OT treatment area, kitchen and apartment throughout the day

Oil bikes according to recommended schedule
Recalibrate treadmills
Silicone Steen equipment according to recommended schedule

Maintain quarterly (more frequently if necessary )Clean hot pack machines

Clean cold pack machines Clean paraffin Clean splint pan
Tum off all computers, open curtains at end of day

Adheres to all required documentation for patient schedules and maintenance of equipment.

Track all loaner wheelchairs, seat cushions, walkers, crutches, canes, sliding boards, and exercise equipment and retrieve as necessary.

Enter charges for purchase equipment requested by therapists correctly and on the same day into the Materials Management System.

Inventory: Inventories and maintains adequate stock Inventories supplies in clean utility room

Inventories and maintains supplies in all exam rooms Inventories and maintain s supplies in splint shop

Inventories and maintains staple supplies i n kitchen Inventories, weights and tracks lost ones

Stocks clean linen and follows up with linen room when low

One year experience as a physical/occupational therapy aide, rehabilitation technician or related patient care experience.
