SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Stores Clerk is to receive products and supplies from vendors and issue these from the storeroom.
 
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Inventory Control  Physically checks vendor deliveries against items that were ordered.    Identifies errors and takes corrective action.  Verifies the quality of products by touching, smelling and seeing each product. Checks for expiration dates.  Signs off on all invoices and turns in to management daily.  Maintains accurate, organized “shelf to sheet” inventory in the assigned area.  Rotates products using FIFO inventory rotation.  Performs accurate inventory counts.  Orders food and supplies based on established schedules and par levels.
 
Safety & Sanitation  Operates assigned vehicle in accordance with all state and local laws.  Practices proper lifting techniques and using applicable safety equipment (safety belts).  Follows all department safety procedures.  Keeps work areas clean and free of debris/clutter.  Follows all established cleaning schedules.
 
Issuing & Deliveries   Fills and delivers internal requests for products and supplies.  Identifies discrepancies and communicates to appropriate management.  Pick up, load/unload and deliver merchandise, supplies and or equipment to Dining Services or Office Coffee customers.  Responsible for integrity/quality of each product delivered and must take action to eliminate potential damage to goods during the delivery process.
Other duties as assigned.  May be moved to new locations and/or shifts as operations dictate.  Cross training may also involve shift changes.

EXPERIENCE:

One year experience in storekeeping, inventory or clerical work. Valid Class A, B or C Texas driver's license and eligible to drive State and institutional vehicles.
