Accounting Specialist
The Accounting Specialist role supports the Accounts Payable & Travel department by ensuring accurate and timely invoice processing and effective resolution of vendor inquiries. The Accounting Specialist works closely with supervisors, Accounts Payable team members, and buyers to research discrepancies, resolve aged items, and maintain financial integrity across daily operations. Through detailed review and collaboration, the Accounting Specialist contributes to efficient payment workflows and strong vendor relationships within the department.

The Accounting Specialist position provides exposure to complex financial processes within a mission-driven academic healthcare environment.
The ideal candidate for this role brings a strong foundation in accounting-related activities, demonstrated experience working with invoices and vendor inquiries, and a commitment to continuous professional development. A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, along with at least three years of accounting-related experience, enabling the individual to work independently, manage exceptions, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners.
The salary range for this position is Minimum $21.88 – Midpoint $27.40 – Maximum $32.93 per hour, based on a 40-hour work week. The typical work schedule is Monday - Friday from 6am - 3pm and 9am -5pm. The work location is Remote, with the ability to attend meetings onsite when needed.

Responsibilities
• Review and research invoices in detail to identify discrepancies and determine appropriate resolution paths
• Forward invoices to appropriate queues to support timely and accurate processing
• Serve as a liaison between supervisors, Accounts Payable team members, and buyers to resolve aged and discrepant invoices
• Prepare and provide weekly reporting on aged and discrepant invoices to supervisors
• Perform exception processes identified by departmental management, including reconciling vendor statements
• Remedy items flagged and routed to the Accounts Payable Hot queue
• Respond to and resolve vendor inquiries related to invoice status and payment issues
• Participate in professional development through attendance at educational programs and review of current professional resources
• Support special projects and perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION
- Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Required: 3 years Accounting related activities.
