Advanced Pharmacy Technician - The Woodlands
.The Woodlands Pharmacy provides comprehensive oncology-focused pharmaceutical services to support MD Anderson’s mission of delivering exceptional cancer care. The Ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma and Certified Pharmacy Technician. Candidate will have at least 3 years of Pharmacy Technician experience.
Working hours: The working hours for this position is 9:30a - 6:30p.

KEY FUNCTIONS
Pharmacy Workflow and Employee Training/Competency
a. Participates in and supports medication preparation, distribution, compounding (sterile and non-sterile), and inventory management activities, as applicable.
b. Maintains a high level of proficiency in assigned pharmacy area(s), meeting established accuracy, quality, and productivity standards.
c. Develops, maintains, and delivers employee training programs and competency materials.
d. Demonstrates accountability and competency in completing assigned duties and projects.
e. Demonstrates a strong understanding of workflows within specialized pharmacy area(s).
Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement
a. Completes all assigned Quality Assurance and productivity reports accurately and on-time, ensuring proper documentation, record retention, and timely follow-up on findings.
b. Proactively researches, monitors problems, initiates corrective actions, and follows through until challenge is resolved.
c. Identifies opportunities for improvement and regularly provides input/suggestions for process improvements.
d. Completes/maintains all Institutional/Divisional requirements for licensure, accreditation, mandatory education and testing.
e. Develops, implements, and/or support special projects across the institution contributing to organizational goals.
f. Maintains clean and organized work area at all times.
Project Management
a. Coordinates and prepares complex materials, including PowerPoint presentations, email communications, and Excel spreadsheets, leveraging Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint.
b. Facilitates effective, professional communication across interdepartmental and interdisciplinary teams to ensure timely decision-making and accurate information sharing.
c. Assists and supports in-person departmental and area-specific meetings for departmental leadership, as well as Committees and Subcommittees within the Division of Pharmacy.
d. Enhances and implements workflows to maintain and support regulatory compliance, including but not limited to: USP standards, inventory optimization, accreditation standards, and drug shortage management.

Education
Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certificate from an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program, or
- Associate’s degree, or
- Additional years of equivalent experience
Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree
License / Certification
Required
- Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP)
- Current national pharmacy technician certification through:
- Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), or
- National Health career Association (NHA)
Preferred
- Current Intravenous Medication Certification (IV – Sterile Products) sponsored by:
- An ACPE provider, or
- An ASHP- or ASHP/ACPE-accredited pharmacy technician training program
- Other PTCB assessment-based certificates or nationally recognized certifications relevant to job responsibilities
Experience
Required
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a pharmacy technician in:
- Hospital
- Infusion center
- Retail pharmacy
Preferred
- Experience training pharmacy staff
- Prior leadership experience
