Applications Systems Analyst Office of the CETO
The UT MD Anderson is seeking an Application Systems Analyst to support the Education & Training Division. The Application Systems Analyst plays a critical role in aligning technology solutions with business needs by analyzing workflows, supporting system functionality, and enhancing application performance. Within the Education & Training Division, the Application Systems Analyst contributes to the delivery of efficient, reliable systems that support learning, development, and operational effectiveness.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in information systems, data analysis, and application support and system troubleshooting. A background in supporting cross-functional teams, documenting business processes, and maintaining data integrity is preferred. A background in informatics, along with experience supporting educational applications and onboarding processes, is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities
Application Development Support
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define application and reporting data models and optimize query performance
• Analyze and document business workflows, system processes, data flows, functional requirements, and reporting needs
• Troubleshoot application issues, validate system logic, and recommend system improvements
• Support system configuration, testing, user acceptance testing, implementation, and post-implementation activities
• Maintain system documentation including workflows, technical specifications, testing plans, and standard operating procedures
• Ensure data governance and integrity across systems by implementing data quality practices
Data Integration Support
• Develop, test, debug, and maintain queries using structured query language (SQL)
• Support ETL workflows and data integration processes
• Perform web scraping and external data ingestion in a secure and reliable manner
• Develop and maintain data APIs or data access packages for secure internal consumption
• Utilize generative AI tools to automate and improve data processing workflows
• Maintain security, compliance, and best practices in all data management activities
Collaboration & Training
• Coordinate and train data scientists, analysts, and end users on data pipelining and preparation techniques
• Promote best practices for data integration and consumption across stakeholder groups
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Two years experience in Epic software, domain, analysis, design, project management, or programming. May substitute require education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
Preferred: A background in informatics, along with experience supporting educational applications and onboarding processes, is strongly preferred. Support end-to-end system lifecycle activities, including configuration, testing, user acceptance testing, implementation, and ongoing post-implementation support.
