Patient Care and Prevention Facilities (PC&PF) is fundamental to the daily operations of MD Anderson Cancer Center. This department ensures all of the hospital's facilities are safe, operational, and compliant with accreditation standards. It fosters an environment of growth and professional development by cultivating the skills necessary to oversee the vital maintenance operations needed throughout the institution. PC&PF also plays a longitudinal role for the institution in overseeing the construction of new facilities and the modernization of existing buildings through new software and monitoring initiatives. All of this makes PC&PF a vital and integral department in delivering world class cancer care to patients. 

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Building Services Supervisor to lead and coordinate daily operations within our housekeeping team. This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, a commitment to quality, and a passion for maintaining clean, safe, and efficient environments

 

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 5pm-1:30am 

The salary range is $49,500 - $62,000 - $74,500

SUMMARY

At MD Anderson Cancer Center, the Supervisor of Environment Services is responsible for supervising and coordinating daily operations of the department including, managing staff, scheduling, budget compliance, and coordinating assigned work activities within the department. The supervisor position is integral in the training, coaching, mentoring, hiring, and performance management of staff. The position also assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure a safe and effective working environment. Other duties include monitoring compliance with health and sanitation regulations and standards and implementing process and quality improvement initiatives.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
People

Integral in the selection, scheduling, monitoring, retention, and assessment of employees. Responsible for staff development and mentoring. Ensures that all department workers have received adequate training and adhere to all policies and procedures.

Liaise with department leadership on coaching/corrective counseling and staff performance, productivity, and quality to achieve desired outcomes. Conducts sessions for new hires to provide feedback, orientation, and recommendation as needed.

Plan and lead daily team meetings with staff to review daily AIDET goals. Establish clear and professional communication to enable seamless problem resolution.

 Service

Submits orders for equipment and supplies according to department guidelines, and educates staff about the proper usage. Provide regular in-service training to keep staff informed about changes to equipment/supply use and process changes.

Build strategic relationships with team members, departments, and units to achieve the common business goal

Organize workflow, proactively solve problems, and manages multiple priorities.

Manage communication with customers in response to concerns and requests.

Quality/Safety

Conduct daily inspection of work area; maintain cleanliness and safety procedures; train staff on proper procedures to handle waste removal and hazardous drugs for human and environmental safety

Ensure that all equipment and chemicals are properly labeled and stored, hallways are free of obstructions and report on life safety deficiencies

Perform audits on equipment, processes, and outcomes to meet client expectations and achieve department/organizational goals.

Finance

Monitor supply purchases and inventory processes using efficient and cost-effective work practices; Assist management with cost control

Develop staffing plans and schedules to meet departmental objectives and goals

Growth and Innovation

Continually develop the skills and competencies of team members; foster a positive and constructive teaching environment by engaging staff/team members in learning opportunities that are valuable and in alignment with business objectives.

Identify opportunities for self and staff development and take appropriate action through discussion with appropriate management.

Administrative Duties

Monitors staff on FMLA, perform daily Kronos updates and weekly exception reports, and completes ePerformance on schedule

Familiarize with Service Level Agreements, departmental policies, and procedures and implement them through proper responses and quality outcomes to ensure customer satisfaction 

Other duties as assigned

Required: High school graduate or equivalent,. Five years commercial or industrial housekeeping experience. One year experience at the Building Attendant II level or one year of supervisory experience in a housekeeping department Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
