Clinical Nurse, Outpatient - Adult Central Nervous System - Radiation Oncology
Registered Nurse opportunity in the adult Central Nervous System (CNS) Radiation Department and some Radiation Oncology Pediatric Clinic.

This role requires flexibility in working with both adult and pediatric patients, with a focus on adult care in the outpatient clinic setting.
Preferred qualifications include at least three years of experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) with a background in ICU, Neuro, Radiation, or Radiation Oncology. Candidates with pediatric experience who are interested in transitioning into adult outpatient care are strongly encouraged to apply.
Shift: 830a - 5pm, Monday - Friday
Key Functions
The Outpatient RN must possess the following abilities and/or characteristics: Ability to assist with multiple clinic operational activities, while in collaboration with clinical nurses, Medical Assistants, Radiation Oncologist, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), Residents, and other multidisciplinary team members.
The RN must be able to follow instructions, practice independently, while establishing and maintaining positive cooperative working relationships, flexibility, interpersonal verbal and written communication skills, computer proficiency, organizational skills, problem solving skills, resourcefulness, and self-motivation.
The RN must provide patient education in preparation for treatment, extensive reinforcement of education throughout the treatment, and post-treatment education. The nurse is responsible for securing patient history, in depth knowledge of multiple pertinent medications, assisting with physical exam, coordination of care with significant complexity and multiple contact points, management of acute toxicities, administration of medications, etc.
Manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. Impacts quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
Specific competencies include:
Prepare clinics for the day; stock and prepare exam rooms; effective interaction with electronic health records; pre-chart for telemedicine visit; assist with obtaining prior radiation treatment records and MRI images, assist with patient administrative documents; obtain patient vital signs; accurate entry of patient information in medical record while providing rooming documentation support; notification of abnormal parameters to the Providers; safely escort and transport patients in wheelchairs; clean, store, prepare, coordinate and report any equipment in need of repair/maintenance; audit and maintain inventory of medical supplies; other duties assigned.
Education:
Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Experience:
Preferred: one year of Registered Nurse experience
Licensure/Certification:
Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification if working in the following department: Nrsg Post Anesthesia Care Unit (600160).
