Clinical Nurse, Outpatient - Ambulatory Treatment Center
Seeking an experienced Oncology Nurse to join our team, in the Ambulatory Treatment Center, at the Woodlands area location. With multiple locations around Houston, our experience and services extend into your neighborhood. MD Anderson provides medical oncology, radiation oncology and surgical oncology services along with a range of supportive programs at all of its greater Houston area locations. At MD Anderson The Woodlands, patients in The Woodlands, Spring, Conroe and communities north of Houston have access to top-ranked, comprehensive cancer care close to home.
The ideal candidate will have at least two years of RN experience in Oncology. Prior experience administering chemotherapy experience preferred. The schedule for this position will be Monday - Friday, 7:30am-6:00pm (10 hours with a flex day).

KEY FUNCTIONS
Transformational Leadership:
• Organizes and prioritizes work of the patient care team, including administration of chemotherapy/biotherapy agents, pump connects /disconnects, administration of antibiotic therapy, administration of IV fluids, rapid response to chemotherapy reactions/ emergencies, IV starts, etc.
• Assures continuity of care as patients transition across the continuum through appropriate patient education and coordination of services.
Structural Empowerment:
• Accountable for identifying barriers to patient care and solutions.
• Active in developing strong relationships and partnerships with the organization to improve patient outcomes.
Exemplary Professional Practice:
• Trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.
• Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies.
• Responsible for coverage for Surgical Oncology and Infusion patients as necessary.
• Collaborates with physicians, other services, patient and patient's family to plan care and evaluate outcomes.
New Knowledge, Innovation, and Improvements:
• Improves practice by integrating results and theories of research studies.
• Participates in /leads evidenced based practice projects.
• Participates in the redesign of care delivery for unit/center patient population.
Empirical Quality Results:
• Actively reports using the Good Catch and incident reporting systems.
• Collaborates with others in quality and performance improvement efforts.
• Documents care according to established standards.
EDUCATION
Required:
Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
EXPERIENCE
Preferred:
At least 2 years of RN experience.
Infusion / Chemotherapy experience.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
Required:
Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support(ACLS) certification if working in the following department: ASC Post Anesthesia (600761).
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if working in the following departments: ASC Post Anesthesia (600761) or Pedi - Child & Adolescent Center (113200).
Preferred:
Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN)
