Proton Therapy Center – Outpatient Nursing Services
The Proton Therapy Center provides advanced radiation treatment using proton beams to target tumors with precision, minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. Our outpatient nursing team plays a vital role in supporting patients through their treatment journey, ensuring safety, comfort, and continuity of care in a technologically sophisticated environment.
 
Outpatient Clinical Nurse – Role Overview
The Outpatient Clinical Nurse coordinates and delivers patient care across the continuum, ensuring quality, evidence-based practice in collaboration with the inter-professional team. This role advocates for patients and families, organizes team workflows, and supports staff development to optimize care and resource use. Nurses in this role are expected to lead change, foster innovation, and contribute to continuous improvement in clinical practice.
 
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a graduate of an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor’s degree preferred, and holds a current Texas RN license along with BLS or CPR certification. They bring at least two years of clinical nursing experience, ideally in pre-admission testing, PACU, procedural, med-surg, or ICU settings. Certification in oncology nursing or a specialty practice area is highly valued. This candidate demonstrates strong clinical judgment, technological proficiency, and a commitment to evidence-based care and professional growth.
 
Shift Details
Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm. Hours may flex earlier or later depending on clinic needs. Occasional weekend and early morning shifts (starting at 6:45am) may be required for Code Blue coverage.

Hourly breakdown of salary range: Minimum $32.69 – Midpoint $50.48 – Maximum $68.26

EDUCATION

  • Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing. Bachelor's Degree Nursing
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Nursing 

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Required: None
  • Preferred: 2 years inpatient nursing experience

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license. Upon Hire Required and
  • BLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required or
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Upon Hire Required and
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support If working in the following department: ASC Post Anesthesia (600761). Upon Hire Required or
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support If working in the following departments: ASC Post Anesthesia (600761) or Pedi - Child & Adolescent Center (113200). Upon Hire Required
  • OCN - Oncology Nurse Certification Certification in specialty practice area. Upon Hire Preferred

     

     

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS: All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
