This is a nursing position in the Gamma Knife department.  The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, an RN license, and at least two years of recent RN experience.  The following areas preferred: in a medical/surgical, acute care, or procedural setting.  Ability to start IVs (PIV & port a cath) and ACLS certification is a plus. 

 

Shift: Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm with flexibility to cover late cases (as needed) 

  

KEY FUNCTIONS 

Practice autonomously within the scope of professional nursing practice. 

Accountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area. 

Assesses patient's needs for nursing care and multidisciplinary team. 

Collaborates with physicians, other services, patient and patient's family to plan care and evaluate outcomes. 

Ability to float to and assist with clinic operations in the various clinical areas in the Radiation Oncology department. 

Applies new and existing evidence in patient care standards, incorporating new knowledge, innovations, and improvements in clinical practice and in the patient care delivery system. 

Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures, and managing medical emergencies. 

Documents care according to established standards. 

Assures continuity of care through appropriate patient education and coordination of services. 

Acts as a patient and family advocate in order to uphold patient rights. 

Participates in daily unit operations to achieve and maintain the financial goals by utilizing all resources effectively and efficiently. 
Provides quality and fiscally responsible patient care. 

Other duties as assigned. 

Education
Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.

All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.

Certification/Licensure
Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support(ACLS) certification if working in the following department: ASC Post Anesthesia (600761). Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if working in the following departments: ASC Post Anesthesia (600761) or Pedi - Child & Adolescent Center (113200).
