Most new patients who come to MD Anderson every year are treated in one of our specialized cancer care centers or clinics, which embody the multidisciplinary, team approach to cancer care that has become an MD Anderson trademark.  MD Anderson’s Sarcoma Center is the nation’s largest program for bone and soft tissue sarcomas.  As the nation’s foremost sarcoma experts, MD Anderson offers innovative treatments with the goal of maintaining physical function and quality of life.  

Nursing staff provide and coordinate clinical aspects of patient care across the continuum in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary teams and external sponsors, in order to achieve quality patient outcomes.

Perform clinical functions in a dynamic patient care environment through interaction with internal and external care providers and regulatory bodies.

Candidate must possess the following abilities and/or characteristics: Ability to coordinate and perform multiple activities, set and implement priorities, practice independently, critical thinking skills, dependability, expertise in establishing and maintaining positive cooperative working relationships, flexibility, interpersonal verbal and written communication skills, computer proficiency, organizational skills, problem solving skills, resourcefulness, and self-motivation.

Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing. 

All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program. Foreign trained nurses who have not practiced nursing as an RN in the United States for at least one year will also be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program. Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. 

Preferred: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
