The Computational Scientist provides analysis and develops algorithms and software for clinical and scientific problems.


Develop understanding of existing and future needs 
Interact with the technical leader and other IT professionals to understand system architectures, subsystem and component specifications and recommend changes to facilitate efficient and effective development.

Design and develop applications to retrieve, process, present and manage information from publically available databases and systems (e.g. PubMed, COSMIC, TCGA data, ClinicalTrials.gov, FDA etc); integrate clinical systems (e.g. TissueStation, CORe, EMR); and develop tools for abstracting, analyzing and presenting complex data.

Research and development  
Conduct research and interact with other IPCT personnel to understand the domain knowledge, identify and develop informatics solutions that may improve the efficiency and scalability of the operations.

Documentation and execution  
Design and document subsystems and system components consisting of several modules working together to execute an encapsulated function of the larger system.

Develop novel code to execute and deliver on new requirements  
Write, execute and test new code; implement and debug subsystems and components.

Other duties as assigned.

Required: Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics or related field.
Preferred: Master's in Computer Science or Computer Engineering

Required: Five years experience in scientific software development/analysis. With preferred degree three years experience required.
Preferred: Experience with Java, Python, and web development. Some biomedical knowledge is a plus.
