The Department Administrator will direct all facets and phases of resources management in the areas of clinical care, research, and education in collaboration with the Department Chair and Division Administrator. Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls and processes which provides reasonable assurance that department operations are effective and efficient, department assets are safeguarded, departmental financial information is reliable, and the department complies with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Ability to attract and mobilize energies and talents working towards a shared purpose in the best interests of the department. Ability to shape others’ understanding in ways that capture interest, inform, and gain support.

The ideal candidate will have administrative operations across clinical care, research, and education, with a strong background in Pathology to ensure alignment with departmental goals.

Essential Job Functions:
* Plans, organizes, and directs all activities related to financial management, including financial planning, expense mitigation, budgeting input, financial services, and reimbursement. 
* Develops, implements and manages effective administrative processes, policies and procedures to ensure operational and quality outcomes. * Manages human resources administration to include staffing, performance management, professional development, new faculty appointments and fellowship/residency training programs.  
* Manages the departmental revenue cycle activities, charge capture, coding reviews, denials management, and other related aspects.
* Manages the administrative responsibilities of grants, contracts and other sponsored agreements.  Administers research programs.  
* In collaboration with the Department Chairman, develops long-term business and operational plans for the department.  
* Manages the department's physical resources including space planning, inventory control and property maintenance.  
* Manages the department's fellowship programs including all marketing, recruitment and related administrative activities.  
* Designs and implements systems and processes in collaboration with others in the Division to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of service and quality.  
*  Provides faculty support working with the Department Chairman on issues including faculty recruitment, space allocation, personnel support, research funding, coding practices and provider credentialing.  
* Supports the division by providing requested information and documentation, developing short and long-range goals and devising collaborative strategies for resource acquisition and allocation.
* Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: 
Required: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred: Master's Degree

EXPERIENCE: 
Required: Seven years progressive and responsible healthcare / research or business management experience to include three years in a management role. 
Preferred: Five years progressive and responsible healthcare, research or business management experience to include three years in a management role, with Master's degree.  Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience. 

Experience in Pathology is strongly preferred. Coordinating and overseeing human resources activities including hiring, onboarding, promotions as well as direct people management, is critical. Additionally, the ability to collaborate on initiatives to grow demand, strategically transform operations, and contribute to institutional growth through innovative planning and partnership development will be key to excelling in this position. Strong background in financial management, including budgeting, expense mitigation, and revenue cycle oversight. Familiarity with faculty recruitment, credentialing, and fellowship/residency programs.

OTHER: 
Required: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
