Director, Major Gifts
EDUCATION
Required: Bachelor’s degree.
CERTIFICATION
Required: None.
Preferred: Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE)
EXPERIENCE
Required: Nine years direct fundraising experience. Three years supervisory experience. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.
Preferred: Ten or more years of professional experience in portfolio-based fundraising with experience securing seven-figure major gifts. Verifiable record of accomplishment of $10 million + in personally attributable charitable gifts closed. Demonstrated experience working with faculty, executive leadership teams, senior campaign/board members and fellow development professionals to execute fundraising strategies.
Deep understanding of individual philanthropy and the philanthropic process. Ability to maintain a high level of consistent productivity. Track record of expanding donor participation in giving efforts and expertise in working with high-level giving constituencies. High degree of diplomacy, emotional intelligence, ethical sensitivity, and commitment to confidentiality. Demonstrated track record of using tact and diplomacy in communications with a wide variety of personalities. Willingness to travel as well as work some nights and weekends.
