Executive Director, Principal Gifts
REQUIREMENTS
Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred Education: Advanced Degree
Certification Preferred: CFRE or other Professional fundraising certification
Required Experience
• 14 Years direct fundraising experience (Portfolio Management + Solicitation Experience)
• Solicited and closed multiple seven-figure gifts and exposure to 8-figure donor engagement and solicitation
• High degree of professionalism, diplomacy, poise, ethical sensitivity, discretion and commitment to confidentiality
• Demonstrated fluency in planned giving opportunities and blended giving solicitations
• 5 years leadership experience
• Willingness to travel as well as work some nights and weekends
Preferred Experience
• Experience in principal gift management
• Deep understanding of individual philanthropy, the philanthropic process and various giving structures, and the ability to lead solicitation for eight- and nine-figure gift opportunities in complex organizations or institutions
• Preferred verifiable record of accomplishment of $50 million + personally attributable charitable gifts closed in professional career
• Experience working with faculty, executive leadership teams, senior campaign/board members and fellow development professionals
• Demonstrated effective and motivational leadership in leading teams towards a common goal
• Track record of demonstrating tact and diplomacy in communications with a wide variety of personalities, as well as curiosity and a sense of humor
• Track record of expanding donor participation in giving efforts and expertise in working with high-level giving constituencies
• Mastery of strategic campaign techniques and other campaign tools
