Experienced Clinical Nurse - Medical Oncology
Clinical Nurse positions at MD Anderson Cancer Center are essential to delivering high-quality care within the Medical Oncology G21 Unit. This 48-bed, four-pod intermediate medical oncology unit provides care to adult and geriatric patients ranging from 18 to 95 years old. Patients treated on G21 include those with colorectal, gastrointestinal, and lung cancers receiving complex chemotherapeutic and bio-immunotherapeutic regimens, as well as management of treatment side effects and complications. The unit also serves patients with acute non-cancer medical conditions and those requiring cardiac monitoring and infusion of cardiac medications.
MD Anderson Cancer Center is a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. As a Clinical Nurse, you will play a critical role in managing patient outcomes, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring continuity of care across the treatment spectrum.
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and have two years of recent inpatient nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics or oncology. Strong clinical competency, compassion, and the ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays are essential.
The typical work schedule includes Days, 7am–7pm, with rotating weekends and holidays required. Work location: Onsite.

Responsibilities
Patient Care Management • Manage and provide patient care in assigned area
• Assess patient needs for nursing care and multidisciplinary team involvement
• Collaborate with physicians, services, patients, and families to plan care and evaluate outcomes
Clinical Competency • Demonstrate clinical competency and compassion in providing care
• Administer medications, perform procedures, and manage emergencies
• Document care according to established standards
Technology & Data • Access, input, and retrieve information from computer systems
• Participate in data collection for current studies
• Integrate research results and theories into practice
Continuity & Advocacy • Ensure continuity of care through discharge planning and patient education
• Act as a patient and family advocate to uphold patient rights
Team Leadership • Train, coach, and assist team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient resource use
• Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION
- Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Nursing.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
