 *This position primarily location is centered in the Medical Center with some travel to "The Woodlands"
 
SUMMARY

Serve as the financial manager for all Ambulatory Operations including Houston Area Locations, with focus on budgeting, financial analysis, reporting, and strategic planning.  Provides and supervises efforts related to the operational analytic support needed across the following domains: Operational metric reporting and analysis; Production of service line specific analysis for executive leadership; Compensation analysis and modeling; Support for projects related to strategic planning. 

 

KEY FUNCTIONS

Financial Management
• Coordinates and provides direct support in the development, completion, and submission of the annual operating and capital budgets and monthly divisional forecasts as determined by the Institutional Financial Planning & Analysis office.
• Generates data, tools and/or reports for use in the budget and forecasting processes.
• Presents financial and operational data to leadership on a routine and/or ad hoc basis, including detailed analysis and explanations on financial trends, variances, and/or other key performance indicators
• Assists as a leading team member in identifying and developing financial and operational quality improvement opportunities.
• Leads development of reports that support executive leadership in timely and strategic decision making.
• Supervises and monitors all required reconciliation activities to ensure compliance with institutional guidelines and reports reconciliation results to financial and operational leadership with mitigation plans, as needed.
• Reviews financial transactions and FACT attributes on a routine basis to identify errors in a timely manner and makes corrections, as needed, via submission of journal entry, NCST, ePAF, or other methods.
• Provides supervision and oversight of purchasing activities, including but not limited to, initiating signature authority changes, monitoring open purchase orders, and preventing unauthorized purchases.
• Coordinates, leads, and monitors asset management-related activities, including asset scanning, transfer, disposal, and verification of depreciation expenses.
• Monitors financial processes in an effort to increase efficiency and productivity and to mitigate risk and/or compliance issues; makes recommendations, as needed.
• Provides account management, audit, and compliance documentation as requested by leadership, Internal Audit, and/or Financial Controls.
• Serve as a property officer for the assigned area.
• Creates, analyzes and disseminates reports and operational metrics tailored to assigned areas’ specific service lines.

Operations & HR Management  
• Provides support and operational analysis on all service lines within assigned areas.
• Collaborates with other departments across the organization in the creation of shared data models to understand the unique needs of the different disciplines served by each area.
• Provides direct supervision to business support roles including, but not limited to, Clinical Billing Specialists, Financial Analysts and Accountants. 
• Prepares justifications for incremental positions and initiates necessary personnel actions including, but not limited to, position updates and changes in funding source.
• Analyzes the skill set of financial staff, develops annual training, and establishes and implements competency assessment strategies.
• Provides financial direction and communication to employees within unit.
• Coaches, mentors and provides development opportunities for financial staff.
• Provides on going and timely feedback to employees throughout the year to include timely completion of performance evaluations.
• Demonstrates cultural competence that creates an inclusive environment for the diversity represented within the staff.

 

Project Management 
• Serves as primary financial liaison for centers regarding financial or operational data analysis needs or projects.
• Provides analytical support for specific projects to all members of the assigned areas’ management and financial teams.
• Collaborates and participates in data analysis projects in other areas of the institution.

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field. 

Preferred: Master’s degree in finance, business administration or a healthcare administration.

 

Certification: None 

Preferred: None

 

Experience:

Required:Five years of professional experience in finance, accounting, business or related field to include at least three years of supervisory or project management experience.  
Preferred:
Business operations experience in multiple clinical environments (inpatient and outpatient). Extensive knowledge of financial reporting and analysis software to include in-depth experience with Hyperion and Microsoft Excel.  Knowledge of and experience in clinical operations. Knowledge of the operations of multiple service lines (Ex. Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Ambulatory Treatment Centers, etc.)
