The Financial Analyst role supports the Finance and Analytics department in advancing institutional financial stewardship and project management excellence. As part of this team, the Financial Analyst contributes to capital planning, reporting, data analysis, and operational support that enable informed decision making across high priority initiatives.

The Financial Analyst position is based within MD Anderson Cancer Center, a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. The Financial Analyst will work closely with financial and operational stakeholders to ensure accuracy, consistency, and efficiency across capital processes and core financial functions.

The ideal candidate brings experience in financial analysis, project management, and health care finance, with strong analytical skills and familiarity with systems such as PeopleSoft, Microsoft Access, SQL, or other database analysis tools. A background in capital planning or oncology-related operations is beneficial, along with experience preparing presentations, managing workflows, and supporting complex financial processes.
 

The typical work schedule is 8am–5pm Monday–Friday.
Work Location: Hybrid Onsite/Remote.

Salary Range: Minimum - $68,500 / Midpoint - $85,500 / Maximum - $102,500.00

Responsibilities

-Maintain and enhance the organization’s long-term financial forecast model to support strategic planning and decision-making.
-Develop, update, and analyze financial analytics and related reports, ensuring accuracy and relevance for stakeholders.
-Track projects and initiatives within the organization’s business planning software platform, maintaining data integrity and visibility.
-Prepare and distribute recurring and ad hoc reports in accordance with established schedules and business needs.
-Support financial diligence and analysis for strategic projects on an as-needed basis.
-Perform other duties as temporarily assigned to meet the evolving needs of the finance organization.
 

EDUCATION

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related business specialty.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree or higher in at least one of the following disciplines: Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting or Finance; OR STEM-related disciplines with emphasis in mathematics.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Required: Two years of business experience to include project management, data analysis, or accounting.
  • Preferred: Experience in a healthcare or business environment.  Abilities in Microsoft Access, SQL, or other database analysis tools.  Understanding of the corporate Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow Statement
