The Senior Academic Coordinator – Clinical position is to perform complex, independent, administrative duties related to human resources, educational appointment, academic program support, database maintenance, and policy and procedure development, ensuring compliance with institutional regulations, for the Institution’s clinical trainee population, including GME residents and fellows, GME rotators, and clinical students.


Perform complex, independent administrative duties related to human resources

-Process all aspects of educational appointments and reappointments in compliance with departmental and institutional policies, government regulations, and appropriate oversight agency requirements for the institution’s Clinical trainee population, including, but not limited to, GME residents and fellows, GME rotators, and clinical students.

- Conduct credentialing and verification of medical education of incoming trainees and assist with licensure and permitting processes and visa procurement

- Manage and maintain information systems and databases pertinent to educational programs and trainees

- Process HRIS error reconciliation; provide timely and accurate reporting; serve as a back-up for other members of the Clinical unit

Provide leadership, guidance, support, and education to programs and departments regarding educational appointment of clinical trainee titles

- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, government regulations, and appropriate oversight agency requirements


- Provide advisory assistance and serve as a resource to both incoming and current Clinical trainees


- Serve as liaison between a home institution and the MD Anderson host department for affiliate programs/schools with which MD Anderson has an education program agreement


Provide administrative leadership support roles in the Office of Graduate Medical Education


- Serve as team lead for Clinical trainee report development and generation


- Represent OGME and provide support, as needed, to the Graduate Medical Education Committee and their subcommittees


- Serve as a liaison to other units, departments, institutions, or agencies, as needed


- Contribute to Clinical trainee policy development and related website updates; other duties, as assigned

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Preferred: Master's Level Degree

Experience: Five years professional human resources, education or business experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.

Preferred: Five years of experience in the administration of academic appointments at the department or institutional level
