The Grant Program Manager provides administrative oversight for both pre- and post-award processes of grants and contracts throughout the Brain Tumor Program. This role involves managing the grant application process, reporting, and financial reconciliation of large-scale grants throughout their project periods. The manager works closely with Program Directors and faculty from the Departments of Neuro-Oncology and Neurosurgery to coordinate the administrative aspects of sponsored research. Responsibilities include assisting with the writing and editing of research grant proposals, related documents, reports, and contracts. Additionally, the Grant Program Manager provides training and guidance to administrative staff, trainees, and faculty on the submission of grant applications.

KEY FUNCTIONS

  1. Initiate department administrative planning for grant development; ensure grant process has appropriate resources, including administrative and financial support.
  2. Oversee the implementation of systems, policies, and procedures affecting the submission, review, approval, contract negotiation, activation, regulation, tracking, and reporting of and submission of grant applications and annual reports, according to institutional and external requirements.
  3. Manage funds and fund allocation across multiple projects and reports appropriately.
  4. Develop written and/or verbal communications for participating investigators and support staff, as well as timelines for preparation, finalization, and review of grant-related documents and status reports.
  5. Oversee and coordinate submission, review, approval, tracking, and reporting of grant applications and progress reports, according to institutional and external requirements.
  6. Assist in writing, scientific editing, and preparation of all sections of grant applications, including budgets and budget justifications.
  7. Oversee planning of monthly research investigator meetings.
  8. Manage internal competitions for career and development research programs.

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE

Required: Two years of grant management experience such as grant writing, grant submission and financial administration and one year of lead or supervisory experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one year basis. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience.

Preferred: Pre- and post-award grant experience. Pre-award to include knowledge of NIH requirements and regulations.

Required: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
