The Department of Systems Biology applies systems biology approaches to the many facets of clinical, translational and basic cancer biology. The department is positioned to take advantage of emerging areas in cancer research and systems biology using an integrative approach across large scale data sets and patient samples. Active areas of research include genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, epigenomics, single cell biology, synthetic biology, tumor microenvironment and cancer immunology.

 
SYSTEMS BIOLOGY

Please note this role is Hybrid Onsite/Remote. Some job duties can be fulfilled partially remotely but may require some time spent onsite – typically up to 3 days per week.



KEY FUNCTIONS

Grant Pre-Award Administration

  •  Responsible for the submission, review, approval, contract negotiation, activation, regulation, tracking and reporting of and submission of grant applications and annual reports, according to institutional and external requirements.

Grant Post-Award Administration

  • Prepares post-award financial activity, audits finances to ensure compliance with institutional policies as well as funding agency policies.
  • Reconciles account activity, prepares reports, forecasts budget needs and presents to faculty. 
  • Completes progress reports, No Cost Extensions, etc.

Research Administration

  • Manages effort reporting for the department.
  • Maintains the financial database (FileMaker Pro).
  • Meets with faculty to review grant funding, personnel and non-personnel expenses and upcoming deadlines.
  • Inactivate chartfields as needed.
  • Identifies personnel changes needed and request timely ePafs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education

Required: Bachelor's degree.

 

Experience:

Required: Two years of grant management experience such as grant writing, grant submission and financial administration and one year of lead or supervisory experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one year basis. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.

 

Other

Required: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
