Histology Assistant - part-time 20 hours

The ideal candidate will be a student at our school of Health Professions 

KEY FUNCTIONS 

· Provide direct assistant to laboratory staff and pathologists in their preparation of diagnostic and/or research material.

· Utilize laboratory informatics system to access patient information and to organize, label and track patient materials relevant to the histology laboratories.

· Locate and deliver slides/blocks and corresponding information to pathologist, fellows and other departmental/divisional employees as needed.

· Assist histology technicians with procurement and processing of specimens and preparation of slides.

· Prepares solutions and maintain laboratory equipment. Maintain cleanliness of laboratories according to safety and regulatory guidelines.

· Receive, unpack, store and date chemicals and supplies. Performs all duties following established safety guidelines

· Other duties as required
