Position Title: Human Resources Service Center Specialist


The Human Resources Service Center Specialist supports the daily operations of the HR Service Center within the Human Resources Division at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The Human Resources Service Center Specialist serves as a primary liaison between HR Centers of Excellence and employees, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing of transactional personnel activities while maintaining high service and accuracy standards. This role interfaces closely with Administrative and Finance processing departments to support the integrity of employee data and HR systems.

The ideal candidate for the Human Resources Service Center Specialist role demonstrates strong customer service orientation, analytical thinking, and effective communication skills, with the ability to manage detailed transactional work across multiple HR systems. The ideal candidate brings experience supporting HR operations, working with HRIS and payroll systems, and handling sensitive employee information with discretion and accuracy, while collaborating effectively with team members and stakeholders.


Minimum $25.48 – Midpoint $31.73 – Maximum $37.98

Responsibilities
HR Service Center Operations & Customer Support
• Serve as liaison between HR Centers of Excellence and employees to support transactional HR functions
• Provide frontline assistance to employees, managers, and visitors with general HR-related inquiries
• Maintain performance standards for HR Service Center processes, including a 95% or greater accuracy rate
• Demonstrate excellent problem resolution, interpersonal, and customer service skills
• Participate in HR Service Center incentive program eligibility requirements


Badging, Reception & Front Desk Support
• Create and manage ID badges for employees, retirees, contractors, and visitors using institutional badging systems
• Process mass badge requests for special projects, orientations, and trainee programs
• Maintain badge supply inventory and perform routine cleaning of badge printers and scanners
• Coordinate with IT to troubleshoot badging software issues and update badge templates
• Rotate coverage at the HR Service Center reception desk and assist with mail, packages, parking validation, and walk-in inquiries


Employee Data, New Hire & Personnel Processing
• Process new hire information through Taleo and PeopleSoft, including manual updates when required
• Update personal, job, degree, license, certification, and additional pay information for employees
• Create and maintain Person of Interest records and process credential updates for transfers and promotions
• Process electronic Personnel Action Forms, including terminations, status changes, and additional pay items
• Support institutional ePAF training and manage personnel action inboxes and mass personnel actions


Payroll, Timekeeping & Program Support
• Provide frontline support for non-technical Kronos issues and process electronic Kronos Correction Requests
• Manage Kronos security inquiries and escalate technical issues as appropriate
• Correct errors on HRIS State Comptroller reports using Blue Zone and USAS systems
• Support the Tuition Assistance Program by responding to inquiries, processing calculations, audits, payments, and exception tracking


Contingent Worker, Compliance & System Support
• Create and maintain records and identification for contingent workers and contractors
• Support contingent worker onboarding, compliance documentation, vaccination verification, and remote work verification
• Process unemployment claims and coordinate with the Texas Workforce Commission and internal stakeholders
• Perform manual updates and corrections in PeopleSoft and Oracle HCM Cloud, including data cleanup and testing support
• Assist HR partners, Compensation, GME, and other departments with data updates and system support

EDUCATION

  • Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred: Some college level course work from a business school offering specialized training in secretarial skills. or
  • Preferred: Certification Program Certification from a business school offering specialized training in secretarial skills.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Required: 5 years Human resources, administrative, call center or clerical experience.
  • May substitute preferred education for experience on a one to one basis.
  • Preferred: 5 years Human resources. and
  • Preferred: 1 year At least, as a Senior Human Resources Service Center Technician.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
