Infection Preventionist
Education
Required: Bachelor's degree in a health related field.
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Public Health, Biostatistics, Nursing, or Epidemiology.
License/Certification
Required:
One of the following:
·Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN)
·Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP)
·Microbiologist (M) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP)
·Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) with National Certifying Agency (NCA)·
Certified in Infection Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection Control
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Three years patient care experience. With preferred degree, one year of required experience.
Preferred: Three years clinical experience as a registered nurse; or three years clinical microbiology laboratory experience. Additional experience should include Infection Control surveillance; and experience in using various computer-based software.
