Education
Required: Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, enzymology, pharmacology, chemistry or related field.
Preferred: PhD in biochemistry, biomedical science, pharmacology, or related field or a Medical degree.
Experience
Required: Ten years of relevant research laboratory experience. With Master's degree, eight years of required experience and with PhD, two years of required experience.
Preferred: At least four years of relevant experience within the pharmaceutical industry.
Ideal Candidate will possess the following:
• A demonstrated track record in the development and implementation of biochemical assays for compound screening using a variety of detection formats (fluorescence, radiometric, etc.)
• Mechanism of action experience with multiple enzyme families
• Cell-based assay experience in a drug discovery setting
• Experience in target-based drug discovery
• Experience running automated liquid handling instrumentation
• Strong data analysis skills, ability to interpret results and contribute to the design of follow-up experiments
• Ability to effectively present results and conclusions
• High attention to detail
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet critical timelines
• Collaborative attitude and the ability to work effectively on multi-disciplinary project teams
