The Instructor, RFA will plan, coordinate, design and execute technical research experiments and design research projects as described by the Principal Investigator. Will participate in collaborations involving investigators at all levels within the institution and those at other institutions. Scientific contributions must impact cancer research efforts throughout the institution. In addition, this individual must prepare manuscripts for publication as well as travel to national and international meetings to present information about these studies. Must have ability and willingness to observe and comply with all institutional rules that follow OSHA regulations.

Research – 90%
A. Participate in scientific meetings (American Society of Hematology, American Association of Cancer Research, Society of Hematology and Oncology, etc.), departmental seminars and other research related activities as necessary to present results of experiments and make ready results for publications of manuscript/abstracts. In addition, must prepare for publication in peer review scientific journals.
B. Prepare and submit applications for research funding to a wide variety of funding agencies.
C. Requires maintaining meticulous record of experimental data and protocols. Will use computer analysis to provide slides and graphs of data.
D. Maintain accurate protocols of experiments performed, including any modifications, so they are reproducible by other investigators.
E. Maintain an up to date knowledge of fundamental concepts by either reviews of the literature, attendance at seminars/meetings and/or course work. Contribute to designated projects by proposing potential investigatory directions and alternative interpretations of data.

II. Education – 10%
A. Participates in the training of graduate students and post-doctoral research fellows.
B. Supervise and train assigned laboratory personnel in proper research procedures, data analysis, and data compilation.
