Instructor, Research Faculty Appointment

The Department of Leukemia at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center invites applicants for a full-time academic appointment at the rank of Instructor, research faculty appointment. This is a non-tenure/non-tenure track position.  We are seeking a highly motivated and talented scientist who has experience developing novel therapies for the treatment of patients with leukemia through clinical and translational research efforts that involves multidisciplinary collaboration with bioinformatics, biostatistics, and laboratory scientists. The applicant is preferred to have background in experimental biology to guide in collaborations and study designs. Furthermore, must have emotional and psychological stability and a compassionate and positive manner with patients so that he/she will be able to provide care for patients with hematologic malignancies, both in the outpatient and on the inpatient service. Responsibilities will include clinical care, translational research, and teaching, representing the department in national and international meetings, and serving as a mentor/advisor for research and clinical fellows and students. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and lead a clinical and translational research program, with an emphasis on collaborations, peer-reviewed funding and high-impact publications. This opportunity provides research effort to actively engage in cutting-edge basic and translational research with potential relevance to the biology of hematologic malignancies. The selected applicant should have expertise in hematology/oncology, research experience and proof of scientific accomplishments. The candidate will be responsible for participating in an innovative translational research program. The salary for this position will range from $70,000 to $80,000.

This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.

This position has a target base salary of $70,000 to $80,000 and is eligible for incentive compensation, comprehensive health, wellness, time off, savings, and retirement benefits, as well as relocation support, as applicable.
