Managed Care Contract Analyst
The Managed Care Contract Analyst supports analytical, reporting, and data driven decision making activities within Clinical Revenue & Reimbursement helping translate complex information into actionable insights. The Managed Care Contract Analyst works closely with stakeholders to maintain data accuracy, support operational planning, and improve organizational processes through effective analytics and reporting tools.
The Managed Care Contract Analyst is an essential part of MD Anderson Cancer Center. MD Anderson Cancer Center is a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. This role helps ensure data-driven decisions that support clinical, operational, and strategic initiatives across the institution.
The ideal candidate will have experience building, maintaining, and managing managed care contracts in Epic, including hands-on experience with Epic contract modeling.
The typical work schedule is Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm.
Work Location: Remote (Must be able to attend meetings onsite).

Responsibilities
Technical Skills
• Build, test, implement, and maintain complex contracts within Epic Contract Maintenance for accurate reimbursement calculations.
• Configure advanced HB and PB contract rules and extensions to support precise payment modeling.
• Perform Epic system build and maintenance within Hyperdrive, Text, PJX/SUP, REL, and Data Courier environments.
• Participate in Epic upgrades, testing, and enhancements to maintain system performance.
• Maintain Epic certification(s) and continuously improve technical and analytical proficiency.
• Utilize data analytic tools including Epic Reporting, SAP BI, and advanced Excel functions.
Analysis & Data Management
• Produce accurate qualitative and quantitative analyses to support revenue cycle and managed care functions.
• Conduct in-depth analyses of contract performance, payer trends, and regulatory impacts.
• Design and develop reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Epic, Business Objects, StrataJazz, Power BI, and Excel.
• Develop scalable, self-service reporting solutions for stakeholders.
Managed Care Knowledge
• Interpret managed care contract language to operationalize payment terms in Epic.
• Evaluate payer reimbursement methodologies (CPT, HCPCS, MSDRG, APC, ICD-10) and assess financial impacts.
• Monitor contract performance for compliance and reimbursement optimization.
• Maintain knowledge of third-party reimbursement regulations (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payers).
• Identify revenue opportunities and risk areas based on contract analyses.
Customer Service & Collaboration
• Engage with internal customers through meetings, clear documentation, and timely deliverables.
• Communicate technical findings in a clear, concise manner for non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate with Patient Access, Financial Services, Managed Care, IT, and Revenue Cycle teams.
• Maintain proactive and professional communication with stakeholders.
• Participate in cross-functional training and knowledge sharing.
• Develop and maintain internal documentation and best practice guides for Epic contract workflows.
EDUCATION
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or health care discipline.
Preferred:
Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Hospital Administration, Finance, Statistics, Economics, Industrial Engineering, Information Services or other related fields.
• Advanced coursework or certification in Healthcare Analytics, Data Science, or Revenue Cycle Management is desirable.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Required:
Epic Resolute Hospital Billing (HB) Expected Reimbursement Contracts Administration and Epic Resolute Professional Billing (PB) Expected Reimbursement Contracts Administration Certifications within 180 days of hire.
Preferred:
Epic Resolute Hospital Billing (HB) and/or Professional Billing (PB) Expected Reimbursement Contracts Administration Certification at time of hire.
Additional certification in Coding (CPC, COC, CCS) or an equivalent Contract Management, Revenue Integrity, or Healthcare Finance certification (e.g., HFMA CHFP, CRCR) preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in reimbursement or decision support, or at least five (5) years of experience in accounting, analysis, or financial reporting.
Preferred:
Epic Contract Maintenance and Modeling experience with proven ability to configure and validate complex hospital and professional billing contracts.
Hands-on experience with maintaining managed care contracts, contract modeling, and building managed care contracts in EPIC.
Prior exposure to payer relations, contract negotiations, or healthcare decision support systems.
Experience using Epic Reporting and Databases, SlicerDicer, StrataJazz, Business Objects (WebI/SAP Universes), Power BI, or similar reporting tools
