MLP, Acute Care Services

EDUCATION
Required: Degree requirements as defined by the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners or Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners, as required for clinical licensure as a Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Nurse.

EXPERIENCE
Required: None.
Preferred: Three years of clinical experience in surgical care or in an emergency or urgent care setting. Experience with invasive procedures including, but not limited to: central line insertion, thoracentesis, paracentesis, lumbar puncture, etc. Familiarity or experience using ultrasound for invasive procedures.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Required: PA certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants or APN certification by a National certifying organization: ANCC or AANP. Licensed by the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners or Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners.

Preferred: Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) AND Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Eligible for credentialing to perform invasive procedures as defined by the program. Eligible to be granted limited prescriptive authority by the State of Texas
