Navigation Education - Oncology Navigation Program

SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Navigation Educator, Oncology Navigation Program position is to provide expertise in nursing professional development for the nurse navigation program.
The ideal candidate will possess experience in Navigation, along with a background in developing curriculum or initiatives. Furthermore, experience in delivering presentations to large groups is highly desirable.
Flexibility will be a key requirement for this role. The candidate may be required to work additional onsite days based on business and training needs, including occasional travel to HALs as necessary.
KEY FUNCTIONS
- Serves as a clinical nursing expert in various modalities.
- Assesses competency of nurse navigators and provides education, development, and quality improvement initiatives for program.
- In collaboration with program director and navigation leadership, designs tools and methodologies to identify needs and gaps in knowledge, skills and competencies of nursing staff.
- Provides educational opportunities to the nursing staff which fosters professional growth, strengthens problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Incorporates oncology nursing standards, and institutional policy and procedures into practice.
- Evaluates outcome driven interventions.
- Collaborates with staff and the interdisciplinary team to improve patient care.
- Participates in organizational initiatives directed at improving clinical practice and patient outcomes.
EDUCATION
Required: Master's Degree Nursing or Bachelor's Degree Nursing and Master's Degree Healthcare or related field
EXPERIENCE
Required: 5 years Clinical nursing experience in oncology field to include Ambulatory nursing experience and preceptor or instructor experience.
Preferred: One year of navigation experience.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Required Upon Hire: Registered Nurse - State Licensure State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS).
