The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree within Food & Nutrition or related field. Must be willing to work a Hybrid work model schedule and comfortable with CBORD.

Essential Job Functions

People Leadership

  • Manages staffing functions for first tier support of specialized computer systems for foodservice operations.
  • Monitors operational activity from software systems to ensure policy/procedures/processes compliance.
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates training programs for system users. Trains new users and provides ongoing assistance and support of system users. Updates training materials to reflect changes or upgrades to the system and provides education to staff.
  • Conduct super user, administrator, and stakeholders training on reporting tools for food service operations.
  • Provides training opportunities for dietetic interns as requested.

Planning

  • Collaborates with culinary, clinical, retail and service staff and departmental stakeholders in the planning and development of menus and service initiatives.  Facilitates ongoing revision of menus and implementation of programs to enhance the patient, guests, and customer experience.
  • Develops and provides management reporting tools for continuous quality improvement to enhance customer service levels and support operational decision making. Participates in the department performance improvement/quality management activities and provides operational data analysis and reports to leadership for review.
  • Collaborates with Information Services on the design, development, implementation, modification, and evaluation of automated systems for department operations. Presents recommendations for automated solutions to enhance system and department functionality. 
  • Maintains knowledge of laws and methods of protecting health data security and compliance with privacy regulations

Operations Management

  • Provide first tier support, enters data, and utilizes departmental software systems for the development and implementation of best-in-class food and nutrition services.
  • Provide first tier support and collaborate with Operation Managers to ensure coordination of daily operations related to purchasing, receiving, inventory, food/formulary processes, cost and quality control and revenue.

Administration Support 

  • Collaborates with Information Services on the operation and maintenance of Food and Nutrition systems, interfaces with the electronic health record, institutional billing systems, and point-of-sale system for retail sales. 
  • In collaboration with the departments leaders, create and review menus for all diets and menus using current nutrient database and recipe information.
  • Conducts nutrition data coding and ensures menu selections are compliant with diet restrictions, allergies, and food intolerances/ preferences. 
  • Designs and builds the content for touchscreens for menu selections and retail point of sale. 
  • Works closely with department staff to ensure menus are modified to reflect changing protocols, seasonal foods, changes in food availability, health and wellness, and modifications to menu format. 
  • Collaborates with clinical staff in the revision of the Diet Manual and enteral formulary and ensures appropriate, timely updates are made in the department information systems.
  • Ensures database is continuously updated to remain current in food composition, sizing, and labeling. Ensures system support and updates for the procurement, receiving, inventory, production, service, and costing functions.  Provides data and reports for operational analysis and management and assists with the establishment of custom reports.   Develops and/analyzes reports to support food production operational activities, such as forecasting, food waste, food costs, menu costs, inventory, and purchasing.
  • Manages and updates data for patient billing to ensure compliance with institutional standards.  Manages and updates the point-of-sale system for guest trays and café retail programs.
  • Provides day to day first tier support for Food & Nutrition Service software systems and coordinates hardware and software resolution with IT. 
  • Collaborates with IT to ensure appropriate system back-up and data safeguards.  Develops and documents procedures for scheduled and unscheduled system downtime and communicates plan to appropriate staff. 
  • Collaborates with IT staff in the implementation and maintenance of test environments, system upgrades, and implementation of new applications. Provides test cases and participates in testing as required for all aspects of applications.  Provides follow-up support and troubleshoot, as needed, after upgrades. 

REQUIREMENTS 

Education

Required: Bachelor’s Degree or related field.

Preferred:  Bachelor’s Degree in Food & Nutrition

Experience 

Required: Three years of clinical nutrition and dietetics.

Preferred:  Five years of clinical nutrition and dietetics and CBORD system experience

Other

Required:

Registered Dietician (RD)

Must pass a pre-employment test as required and administered by Human Resources.
