Responsibilities include:

·       Provide and is responsible for clinical expertise in pain management and an appropriate teaching and research environment for fellows,          residents, and other trainees within or responsible to the Department of Pain Medicine.

·       Teaching of residents and fellows in pain management.
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Patient Care:

·       Develop and maintain a clinical pain management practice for patients referred to UT MD Anderson.
 

Primary Function:

1.      Provide consultant pain management services on in- and outpatients as part of the Pain Medicine Department,

2.      Provide procedural pain management services as needed with appropriate pre and post procedural care.
 

Specific Duties:

1.      Provide pain management services as an attending practitioner supervising fellows, residents, and other trainees as appropriate rotating through the Department.

2.      Participate on the inpatient pain management service on a rotating and as needed basis.

3.      Participate in all pain section meetings and educational conferences as availability permits.

Medical Direction of Non-Physician Personnel

·       The applicant should work with advance practice nurses and/or physician assistants in accordance with MDACC policy.

Administration:

·       Serve on institutional and hospital committees as requested by the Chair or other appropriate members of the faculty.

·       Assume administrative duties as assigned by the Chair.

Education/Teaching:

·       Provide a balance and integrated educational program in pain management for fellows, residents, and other trainees who rotate through the Department of Pain Medicine.

·       After comprehensive review and analysis, develop, implement, provide, and evaluate the written learning materials for the specific graduate curriculum in pain management as required by the Section and the Department.

·       Participate in, develop, and implement specific continuing education programs pertaining to pain medicine.

·       Attend and participate in, Department, and Division teaching and continuing education conferences.

Research:

·       Actively engage in clinical research and scholarly activity to enhance the academic environment of the department as time permits.

·       Develop programs of clinical research and scholarly activities in keeping within the goals of the Department. Requires the ability to synthesize a myriad of information pertaining to the area of research. May necessitate (verbally or in writing) instructing research support personnel in protocol implementation.

Doctorate-level degree in a field appropriate to faculty role and department mission

Licensed to practice in Texas

Board Eligible/Board certified depending on rank.

Appropriate post medical doctoral training

Required experience based on rank.
