Patient Care Technician (PTC) – Non-Operating Room Recovery (PACU)

Shift: Monday–Friday, 2:45 PM – 11:15 PM

In collaboration with Anesthesiology and Critical Care, the Nursing Division, and the Surgery Division, our multidisciplinary team performs more than 15,000 surgical cases annually across 30+ operating rooms in the Main Building and Mays Clinic.

 

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the Patient Care Technician (PCT) – Non-OR Recovery role in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) will have prior experience as a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant. Candidates should be comfortable with direct patient care and skilled in tasks such as:

  • Obtaining vital signs
  • Measuring blood glucose
  • Recording patient weight

 

Essential Functions

  • Collaborates as part of a multidisciplinary team to address patient care needs.
  • Assists with activities of daily living, patient mobilization, admissions/discharges, and vital sign collection.
  • Updates and retrieves patient information accurately.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly patient environment.
  • Functions as part of an assigned care team while remaining flexible to unit needs.
  • Adheres to all institutional policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Other requirements:

  • Saturday rotation as needed, scheduled on a rotational basis.
  • Flexibility to adjust shifts based on unit needs.

EDUCATION

  • Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Required: None
  • Preferred: One year of Patient Care Technician or Nursing Assistant experience.

 

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Preferred: CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant Upon Hire

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
