Patient Care Technician - Critical Care
Our ICU has 55 beds and 230 employees; the ICU at MD Anderson provides patient focused care through a multidisciplinary team approach. Quality and patient outcomes are at the heart of our practice. The ICU team participates in Evidence Based Practice, unit and hospital-based committees, and local and national conferences.
Ideal candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of recent experience working as a Patient Care Technician in an acute care setting. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources. Prefer one year of recent experience working in direct patient care.
Working Hours: This position works 3-12/hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays. Evening/Nights

Job Competencies
· Provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse.
· Impacts patient comfort and overall outcome of care.
· Acts as a member of a multidisciplinary team to identify and address patient care needs.
· Assists with activities of daily living, patient mobilization, admissions/discharges, and obtaining vital signs.
· Updates and retrieves patient information as needed.
· Ensures the patient environment is clean, safe, and orderly.
· Functions as part of an assigned care team.
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Work Experience
- Required: None
- Preferred: At least one year of Healthcare experience
Licenses and Certifications
- Preferred: CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant Upon Hire
