The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston is one of the world's most respected centers focused on cancer patient care, research, education and prevention. Shifts are 2-12/hour shifts from 7am-7pm and 2-8/hour shifts 7am-3pm and/or 3pm-11pm with rotating weekends and holidays.

P12A is a 32-bed inpatient unit providing care to medical oncology inpatients with a diagnosis of solid tumor malignancies; primary services include genitourinary, breast, and internal medicine. Patients require nursing interventions for the management of chronic and acute disease related symptoms, pain control, and treatment related side effects; the administration of chemotherapy, bio immunotherapy and targeted therapy; and patient and family teaching.  They serve a mainly adult population (20-60 years). 

 

Acts as member of a multidisciplinary team that identifies and addresses patient care needs. Assists in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, admit/discharge and obtaining vital signs. Updates and retrieves patient information. Ensures patient environment is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Acts as part of an assigned care team.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.
