Job Title: Patient Services Coordinator – PACU (Night Shift)
Department: Procedural & Therapeutics Operations
Schedule: Night Shift – Two 12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15) and Two 8-hour shifts (22:45–07:15) | Weekend Commitment Required

SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the Patient Services Coordinator in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is to coordinate and perform a variety of front-line administrative and patient-facing duties related to the admitting, processing, and management of patients undergoing surgical procedures. This position plays a critical role in ensuring a seamless experience for patients and families during the perioperative process and serves as the first point of contact for the PACU during the night shift.


The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience with at least two years in a healthcare or hospital setting.

  • Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously during off-peak hours.

  • Must be comfortable working night shifts and weekend rotations are required.


KEY FUNCTIONS

1. Patient Interaction

  • Greet patients and families in a professional, compassionate manner.

  • Provide orientation to the unit and respond to patient and family inquiries.

  • Explain available services and ensure patient understanding of next steps.

  • Schedule and confirm physician appointments, procedures, diagnostic tests, and treatments as needed.

2. Work Environment

  • Support a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

  • Transcribe and coordinate physician orders in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Relay critical information regarding appointments, scheduling, and procedure preparation to appropriate stakeholders.

3. Record Maintenance

  • Create and manage patient appointment templates and records, both electronically and manually.

  • Ensure all patient information is up-to-date and accurate.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality and security of patient information in compliance with institutional and HIPAA guidelines.

  • Manage a variety of documents and information with attention to detail and accuracy.

4. Financial Activities

  • Review and reconcile patient charge documents in alignment with departmental procedures.

  • Enter technical charges and assist with financial documentation as required.

  • May handle and reconcile cash payments during night shift operations.

  • Identify the need for financial counseling and initiate prepayment processes when appropriate.

5. Other Duties as Assigned

  • Assist with additional responsibilities as needed to support departmental goals and operational continuity during night shift hours.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience
Three years of relevant work experience. May substitute additional education for required experience on a one to one basis.

Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
