PBS Supervisor
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a Patient Business Services Supervisor to support the operations of Revenue Billing within Patient Business Services. The Patient Business Services Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing institutional claim processing, ensuring compliance with billing regulations, and maintaining efficient revenue cycle operations. The Patient Business Services Supervisor will guide daily workflows, monitor performance, and ensure quality standards across billing functions.

The ideal candidate will have an associate’s or preferred bachelor’s degree in business administration or accounting, along with substantial accounting, healthcare business, or hospital billing experience. Strong supervisory experience, knowledge of governmental and commercial billing regulations, and the ability to lead performance-driven teams are essential.
Minimum $32.93 – Midpoint $41.11 – Maximum $49.28
The typical work schedule is Days.
Work Location: Remote but must be willing to come in person as needed.

Responsibilities
Supervision & Team Leadership
• Supervise and coordinate hospital commercial and governmental billing functions for inpatient and outpatient services
• Oversee governmental follow-up activities to ensure timely reimbursement
• Provide training, counseling, and guidance to billing staff
• Monitor staff productivity to ensure departmental, unit, and individual goals are consistently met
Billing Operations Oversight
• Oversee processing and billing of institutional claims
• Ensure governmental letters of agreement are billed appropriately and monitored for correct reimbursement
• Oversee daily processes associated with patient accounting systems and electronic billing software
• Ensure compliance with billing regulations and standard accounts receivable practices
Quality & Compliance
• Maintain quality assurance standards and monitor QA performance
• Ensure policies and procedures are consistently followed
• Maintain current knowledge of commercial and governmental billing regulations
• Communicate third-party billing requirements and updates to assigned staff
Reporting & Financial Monitoring
• Prepare and provide management reports on key financial indicators
• Track discharged not final billed accounts, unbilled hospital accounts, OP exception reports, billing rejections, and backlogs
• Analyze data related to quality and financial performance outcomes
Systems & Process Improvement
• Collaborate with the Manager, Revenue Billing to update and revise electronic billing edits
• Ensure system processes align with regulatory and organizational standards
• Support ongoing improvements to billing workflows and operational efficiency
• Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION
- Required: Associate's Degree Business Administration, Accounting or related field.
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Accounting or Business Administration.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Required: 6 years Accounting or business office experience to include two years of supervisory experience. or
- Required: 2 years Hospital or physician business experience with preferred degree.
- Preferred: Hospital collections, EPIC, leadership, quality assurance, or United Healthcare or Aetna payor experience a plus.
- : May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
- : Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
