Position Summary:
We are seeking a collaborative, quick-learning, and communicative Physician Assistant (PA) with a strong interest in surgery and clinical care to join our Head and Neck Surgery team. This role supports a multidisciplinary, patient-focused environment where clinical excellence, research engagement, and compassionate care converge.
The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented PA who thrives in a fast-paced surgical and outpatient oncology setting and is eager to learn and grow within a highly specialized field.
Travel between the Texas Medical Center and the various Houston Area Locations (HALs) campuses is required.
Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience as a Physician Assistant in surgery, outpatient oncology, or ENT/Head and Neck settings preferred.

Will consider new graduates with strong clinical acumen and relevant training.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct Patient Care:
-
Conduct pre- and post-operative evaluations for new, established, and inpatient Head and Neck Surgery patients.

Perform minor procedures, including:
-
Wound care management
-
Drain removal
-
Tracheostomy care
-
Incision and drainage
-
-
First and Second assist in the Operating Room alongside attending surgeons.
Indirect Patient Care:
-
Counsel patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and surgical consent.

Coordinate communication between supervising physicians and referring services to optimize continuity of care.

Order and review diagnostic tests, manage follow-up plans, and process clinical documentation.

Serve as a point of contact for patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and thorough care.
Research Coordination:

Act as a liaison between Head and Neck Surgery faculty and external research teams.

Support clinical protocol development and submission, including:

Case report forms

Patient scheduling and questionnaire coordination

IRB submissions and regulatory compliance

Adverse event documentation and reporting

Maintain up-to-date protocol documents, SOPs, and regulatory logs.

Attend relevant training sessions and remain informed of institutional research practices.

The Department of Head and Neck Surgery continues to develop innovative treatments aimed at improving cure rates while preserving appearance and function in patients with head and neck cancers. Our physicians collaborate closely with teams from Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Speech Pathology, Oncologic Dentistry, Radiology, and Pathology to create individualized treatment approaches.
