The primary purpose of the Research Assistant I position is to coordinate, design, and carry out cancer research projects while following standard operating procedures for Dr. Pavan Bachireddy’s laboratory.

The ideal candidate possesses hands‑on expertise with 10x Genomics single‑cell multiome workflows, next‑generation sequencing library preparation, and core molecular biology techniques, demonstrating strong data documentation skills and a commitment to maintaining a precise, safe, and well‑organized laboratory environment.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Research Experiments and Projects
Utilizes 10x Genomics single-cell multiome and tissue culture techniques to advance hematopoietic biology and malignancy research. Performs a variety of experimental procedures, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, cell culture, and single-cell library preparation for various lab projects.

Laboratory Function
Prepares next-generation sequencing libraries and assists with single-cell sample processing. Conducts quantification and quality control of libraries across various platforms. Records, analyzes, and reports data to the Principal Investigator (PI) following specified methods.

Laboratory Maintenance
Ensures a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment, including the 10x library preparation room. Manages inventory, adheres to written protocols and operation manuals, and handles patient tissues following safety procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned.
 

EDUCATION: 
Required: Bachelor's Degree Basic Science.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: None. 
Preferred: Experience with next generation sequencing experience. Prior laboratory experience.
