The primary purpose of the Research Assistant I position is to coordinate, design, and carry out cancer research projects while following standard operating procedures for the laboratory.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Research Experiments and Projects:
* Utilizes 10x Genomics single-cell multiome and tissue culture techniques to advance hematopoietic biology and malignancy research. Performs a variety of experimental procedures, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, cell culture, and single-cell library preparation for various lab projects.
Laboratory Function:
* Prepares next-generation sequencing libraries and assists with single-cell sample processing. Conducts quantification and quality control of libraries across various platforms. Records, analyzes, and reports data to the Principal Investigator (PI) following specified methods.
Laboratory Maintenance:
* Ensures a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment, including the 10x library preparation room. Manages inventory, adheres to written protocols and operation manuals, and handles patient tissues following safety procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's degree, major course work in one of the basic sciences.
EXPERIENCE: No experience.
Preferred: Molecular biology and tissue culture. Experience with immunology is a plus.
