Clinical Research & Project CoordinationResearch Assistant I

The Leukemia Department at MD Anderson Cancer Center is internationally recognized for its leadership in the treatment and research of leukemia and related hematologic malignancies. The team is comprised of world-class physicians, researchers, and clinical staff dedicated to advancing therapies through cutting-edge clinical trials and innovative research. The department focuses on delivering personalized care for patients with acute and chronic leukemias, myelodysplastic syndromes, and other bone marrow disorders.

In addition to patient care, the department is deeply involved in translational research, aiming to bring laboratory discoveries into clinical practice. This includes developing novel targeted therapies, immunotherapies, and combination treatments to improve outcomes and quality of life for patients. Collaboration across multidisciplinary teams ensures comprehensive care and fosters an environment of continuous learning and innovation.


This role supports clinical research and project coordination within the Leukemia Department at MD Anderson. The position involves managing research samples across multiple laboratories, assisting with manuscript preparation, and ensuring effective communication among research teams. Key responsibilities include performing statistical analyses, creating tables and figures for presentations and publications, and collaborating with statistical experts for complex data interpretation. The role also requires extracting demographic, clinical, and pathological data from Epic, organizing research databases, and maintaining accurate records for analysis. Flexibility to handle additional duties as assigned is essential.

Ideal Candidate 
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical research and project coordination, with proven experience managing research samples across multiple laboratories and facilitating effective communication for sample sharing. They should be skilled in data analysis and interpretation, including the ability to create tables and figures for presentations and publications, perform statistical analyses (such as Chi-square, Student’s t-test, and log-rank tests), and collaborate with statistical experts for complex analyses. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate proficiency in data organization and maintenance, including extracting demographic, clinical, and pathological data from Epic, and building well-structured clinical and research databases for analysis. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to assist in manuscript preparation and submission are essential. Flexibility to handle other duties as assigned and a collaborative mindset will ensure success in this role.

Minimum Salary: $39,500 | Midpoint Salary: $49,500 | Salary Maximum: $59,500

Roles and Responsibilities


Clinical Research & Project Coordination
• Coordination of research samples among various laboratories
• Tracking available research samples and communication between laboratories for sample sharing
• Assistance in manuscript preparation and submission
Data Analysis and Interpretation
• Creation of tables/figures for presentation and publications
• Statistical analysis (including Chi square analysis, Student's t-test, and log-rank test)
• Communication with statistical collaborators for more complex statistical analyses
Data Organization and Maintenance
• Extraction of demographic, clinical and pathological data from Epic
• Creation and organization of clinical and research databases for analysis

Other assignments as required
