The primary purpose of the Research Technician position in the Department of Infectious Diseases, Infection Control and Employee Health is the coordination and responsibility for providing laboratory services, culture and blood collection for patients, processing research samples, and/records data in accordance with methods requested and confers with superiors regarding results obtained.

**This is a seven hours per week, non-benefits eligible position**

Key Functions:


1. Perform routine technical laboratory duties in accordance with specific

instructions as part of a research project or laboratory. Assist the professional

staff in the laboratory with tasks. Attend to the needs of experiments, as

directed. Record data in accordance with methods requested. Perform any

requested and needed experimental related tasks.


2. Work extensively with animals (mice & rats); must be able to document

experiments and or behavior of animals, good record keeping and data entry of



3. Must be able to perform and/or assist with onsite intestinal physiological

experiments, specifically using chamber experiments, IC50 determinations,

CRISPR-CAS9 technology, cardiac manifestations of chemotoxicity, protein and

RNA quantitative studies, ELISA, flow cytometry and others as required.


4. Ability to work with tissue cultures and animal infections.


5. All other duties as assigned.


Required: High school diploma or equivalent.     



Required: Two year of experience in scientific or experimental research work.

May substitute required experience with completed years of college on a one to

one basis.
