The Room Service Wait Staff position at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Texas Medical Center works as the key link in providing excellent customer service to patients, caregivers and guests while delivering breakfast, lunch, and dinner to their room. Picking up the phone to order a nutritious, freshly prepared meal that's delivered by an attendant wearing a tuxedo might seem more common at a four-or five-star hotel than a cancer center, but Room Service programs like ours that provide efficient, high quality, cooked-to-order culinary options have become essential to ensuring a better patient experience.
Schedule:
6:00 AM – 2:30 PM | Rotating shift, weekends and holidays
What You’ll Do:
Utilizes knowledge of menu and modified diets to ensure that menu selections comply with prescribed diet, age-related needs, and other patient conditions.
Assembles, delivers, and serves meals and nourishments.
Thrive in a fast-paced environment where timeliness and accuracy directly impact patient satisfaction.
Retrieves trays, records food intake and returns trays to ware washing area. Inventories, assembles, and delivers supplies.
Communicates effectively with nursing and nutrition staff to coordinate meal service with other patient care functions.
Follow the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Communicate effectively, assure accuracy, food presentation, and diet compliance, explain the menu selection process, assist patient with menu selection and reassure delivery and pick up within established time frame adhere to policies, guidelines, and procedures.
What We’re Looking For:
High school diploma or equivalent.
One year experience in a patient care or hospitality environment.
A positive attitude, strong time management skills, and commitment to teamwork.
Texas Food Handlers Certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire).

Education:
Required: High School or equivalent
Experience:
Required: One year's experience in a patient care or hospitality environment.
Preferred: At least one year of restaurant or hotel wait staff experience.
Certification:
Required: Must obtain a current Texas Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of entry into job.
