Senior Neurophysiology Technician - Clinical Neurophysiology

SUMMARY
Performs advanced neurophysiology testing and coordinates laboratory activities.
KEY FUNCTIONS
Performs neurophysiology tests including electroencephalographs (EEGs), intra-operative monitoring (IOMs), electromyographys (EMGs) and evoked potentials.
Obtain standard recordings.
Following ASET / ACNS guidelines.
Determine normal standards for patients.
Report significant changes.
Recognize artifacts.
Maintains statistical data.
Participates in the development of new procedures.
Prepares and conducts in-service training sessions for section.
Participates in rotation on taking call.
EDUCATION
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by the completion of an approved training course – OR - on the job training in electrocephalographic technique.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Physical or Biological sciences AND completion of an approved training course.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
Three years in neurophysiology using EEGs, IOMs, EMGs and evoked potential testing.
With preferred degree, one year of required experience.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
Required:
One of the following:
Certification in neurophysiologic intraoperative monitoring (CNIM).
EEG-R - Electroencephalographic Technician Registration.
Registration in evoked potential technology (R EP T) by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologist (ABRET).
Registration in electromyography (EMG) by the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists (AAET).
