SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the PRS Senior Benefits Representative position is to provide professional benefit explanations during institutional recruitment process, enroll new MD Anderson faculty and senior administrative members in their specific benefit packages, and provide ongoing professional benefit consultations to MD Anderson faculty, senior administrators, their families, and to MD Anderson retirees and their survivors. This position will also contribute and participant in the annual enrollment process. 

 

Key Functions

 
Benefit Enrollment Counseling:

Responsible for providing individual counseling to MD Anderson faculty and senior administrators, their families, and prospective candidates, advising them of benefit plan choices, for both health and retirement plan options. Manages and presents a variety of benefit packages to newly hired faculty and senior administrators  and advises them of the entire scope of benefit choices within the University of Texas system and the additional benefits provided through Physicians Referral Service, the MD Anderson group practice plan.

 

Leave, Disability, and Retirement Plan Limit Counseling:

Counsels with faculty and senior administrators and helps coordinate all leave and disability benefits including Family Medical Leave, Paid Time Off (PTO), Teacher Retirement System, Medical disability benefits and long term disability benefits. Counsels with faculty on mandatory state retirement plans, TRS vs ORP; explains IRS contribution limits associated with the voluntary UTSaver TSA and DCP plans; explains the calculations for the UTSaver Contribution Limit Formula. Counsels potential retirees regarding post-retirement benefits and retirement payment options provided by TRS, ORP, UTSaver TSA, UTSaver DCP.

 

Interpret and Administer Benefit Policies:

Interprets and administers institutional and PRS policies and provides comprehensive expertise and knowledge of plans, procedures and federal regulations to assist faculty, senior administrators, and retirees with their health, life, short and long-term disability, PTO, and retirement plan questions. Researches emerging issues and recommends benefit policy revisions.

 
Annual Enrollment:

Contributes and participants in the annual benefits enrollment project to assure a successful enrollment. This includes assistance with educational materials, updating the Physician Referral Services informational benefit booklets and related forms incorporating all legislative and other changes. Insures that all questions from faculty, senior administrators, and retirees regarding annual enrollment are addressed accurately and timely.

 


REQUIREMENTS

 
Experience

Required: Seven years professional level experience in human resources or benefits program administration.

Preferred: Preferred degree, five years of required experience.

 
 
Education

Required: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration or related field. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
