Senior Research Assistant - Infectious Diseases & Infection Control Research
The primary purpose of the Senior Research Assistant position in the Department of Infectious Diseases, will primarily conduct and oversee STAT3 experiments. They will organize and perform correlative studies, as well as coordinate the organization of data and preparing manuscripts for publication.
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and detail-oriented research professional with a strong background in molecular biology and laboratory techniques. They demonstrate creativity and initiative in designing and executing complex experiments focused on STAT3 signaling, cancer, and fibrosis, as well as contributing to novel strategies targeting RASH3D19. Skilled in maintaining a safe and organized lab environment, they excel in preparing equipment, performing assays, and ensuring accurate data collection and documentation. This individual is proficient in managing research data, drafting manuscripts, and supporting grant submissions, while adhering to compliance and privacy standards. Collaborative and resourceful, they work effectively with senior researchers and the Principal Investigator to advance innovative research and contribute to high-impact publications.

JOB FUNCTIONS
Laboratory/Technical Support
• Exercises considerable imagination, initiative and inventiveness in planning and executing experiments examining the contribution of STAT3 to cancer and fibrosis and the effects of TTI-101, a STAT3 inhibit discovered in our lab, on these conditions. Also, contribute to the identification of strategies to target RASH3D19 a newly discovered co-oncogene in cancers caused by RAS mutations.
• Prepare lab equipment and materials for experiments, this may also include placing purchase orders for laboratory services, supplies and equipment.
• Perform routine laboratory tasks such as pipetting, staining, or running assays.
• Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment.
• Conducts experiments and carries out research projects in varied areas of chemistry, biology, physics and other biomedical, dental or related scientific fields.
• Responsible for major participation in the development and revision of techniques, assembles and operates laboratory apparatus and equipment.
• Records and evaluates data in accordance with methods requested.
• Process, handle and ship research samples for sponsor related studies and internal grants, etc.
Data Collection and Entry
• Collect research data (e.g., surveys, experiments, clinical data)
• Enter, manage, and maintain accurate and organized data records.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy standards.
Documentation and Reporting
• Keep detailed logs of experiments and procedures.
• Draft progress reports, abstracts, or manuscripts.
• Maintain research files and organize documentation for audits or reviews.
Team Collaboration
• Attend and contribute to team meetings.
• Work with senior researchers and/or Principal Investigator (PI).
• Collaborate with supervisor and senior research staff with preparation of reports and grant requests.
• Communicate progress and issues to supervisors as needed.
EDUCATION
- Required: Bachelor's Degree Natural sciences or related field.
- Preferred: Master's Degree Basic sciences.
- Preferred: Medical Degree
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Required: 3 years Scientific or experimental research work experience. or
- Required: 1 year Required experience with preferred degree.
