The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.

The primary purpose of the Sr. Coordinator Research Data position is to participate in data management and protocol related activities for patients undergoing a variety of cancer therapies, including immunotherapy, as well as autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplant. Identify patients who can be approached for sample collection. Enter data into standard data collection platforms. Act as liaison with patients, families, physicians and other personnel to collect data needed for follow-up.

KEY FUNCTIONS
FUNCTION 1:
Identify Patients for sample Collection:
A. Review and screen through selected clinic templates (EPIC) and identify patients of interest.
B. Review and screen pathology reports to confirm patient diagnoses.
C Review and screen through weekly pathology GVHD list to identify patients of interest.
D. Review and screen through hospital admission lists for selected services to identify patients of
interest.
E. Maintain patient schedule to ensure sample collection at identified time points.

Data management activities:
A. Maintains longitudinal records of patients, including treatments received and events of interest.
B. Completes lab data related to disease group patients
C. Maintains data relating to clinical protocols.
D. Perform adverse events data entry on “real time”.
E. Complete treatment outcome related data at pre-identified time points.
F. Maintain patient survival data

FUNCTION 2:
Patient Consent:
A. Review patient eligibility of potential study cases with physicians and oversee recruitment of patient
for entry on tissue collection protocol.
B. Effectively conduct assigned operations of research protocols by coordinating, evaluating risks,
benefits and alternative of tissue collection protocols, and following patient participation in clinical
trials.
C. Schedule patient tests for research protocols and inform patient of appointment schedules per
protocol.

FUNCTION 3:
General:
A. Assist the research team by promoting effective communication and positive work atmosphere
among the team members and across the department.
B. Able to navigate CIBMTR and other relevant websites.
C. Adhere and promote the department’s goals.
D. Attend mandatory meetings.

G. Other duties as necessary

Education

Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree

Experience

Required: Four years of related experience. With preferred degree, no experience required.

Preferred: Experience working with EPIC, EMR software.
