The primary purpose of the Sr. Network Engineer position is responsible for providing and maintaining high-quality, reliable, flexible, and appropriate infrastructure networking technology solutions for UT MD Anderson Cancer Center (UT MDACC).  These systems will be used campus-wide by physicians, patients, faculty, students, guests and staff in accordance with UT MDACC’s goals.  The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for all technical aspects of networking installation, maintenance and support.

Engineering/Design/Project Consultation 
Create designs based on established architectural standards and best practices.        
Make recommendations based on knowledge of both architectural and engineering standards for MDACC.  
Provide consultation on the services to customers looking for IT based solutions within the institution. 

Design, implement and maintain Load-Balancing Technologies
Remote Access  
Design, implement and maintain Remote Access/VPN Technologies
Implement and Maintain Security technologies and Protocols
Design, implement and maintain PCI Network Environment
Document design, policies and procedures of the PCI Network Environment

Change Management and Communication  
Follow the institutional process for change management as well as the additional communication requirements imposed within Network Services.
Communicate changes frequently, clearly, and in a timely manner so that all parties involved, directly or indirectly, are aware of the changes.
Follow the established network engineering processes for getting changes vetted and approved for implementation.

Other duties as assigned

Education Required:

Bachelor's degree.  
Certification Required (one
 of the following): 

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification;

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.
Preferred Certification:

Cisco CCNP
Experience Required:

Five years of practical experience in designing and implementing TCP/IP network.  May substitute require education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one.
